Today was Spencer's very first day of PRE-SCHOOL!!!!
Yup.. Todd and I signed him up about a month ago for the month of April to go to the Creche Pre-School program offered for 3-5 year olds at the Community Center (GOD I love that thing!).
He's going for 2 hours, twice a week.
This is him walking up the sidewalk to the front doors....
With his "pac pac" on!
Cute butt huh?
He ran all the way to the front doors and called back to tell me I was a slow poke! LOL!
So we waiting in the main foyer of the community center and then the classroom doors opened and in we went.
We went in, took off his "pac pac", unzipped his coat, kicked off his "Binoo's" (boots) and I asked him for a kiss before I went. He went to Darlene (we know her as one of our library time teachers), one of his teachers in the coat room, gave her a kiss and then turned around and gave me one! Too funny! He turned around and off he went... no fussing.. no tantrum.... no nothing.... WHEW!! But then again, I didn't really expect him to either! I guess I was right! I know he's going to have loads of fun today. There was talk of GREEN playdough today!
It's SO quiet! Awwww.... the quiet! I'm already lovin' this pre-school thing!!! YIPPEE for everyone!
On an interesting note.... we ate buffalo for dinner this past week when Todd had his days off and it was not half bad! We had it BBQed and then I threw the rest of the uneaten roast in the crock pot with my beef stew the next day and that was pretty good too!

A Busy Week and it's only Tuesday!
So far this week has been event filled. Spencer is in a week long swimming lessons session again. He received his Salamander report card last Friday at the end of his session. He received a few more check marks on it towards his Salamander badge. He seems to be progressing and that's all we're interested in right now. He has a ways to go yet to move to the next section.
We decided to try out the introductory session of gymnastics for the 3 and 4 year olds that they were offering this week too. It's only 4 days long, a half an hour per day but for $10.... who could resist!
So yesterday was our first session. There are 18 kids in his class and the room was loud! Lots of activity going on. All the kids were divided into groups of 6 and they rotated through each area of the "gym". The large room above the arena was converted to the "gym".
Our first section was the balance beam. Here he is... all by himself! On the high balance beam...
He loved doing somersaults on the tumbling mats too! He loved doing somersaults so much that he did so many of them to only stand up in front of me at the end of the mats and tried to walk forward only to find out that the room was spinning and he ended up walking in a semi-circle and falling on his butt!
The only thing I wasn't impressed with is that I had to participate. Don't get me wrong, it's not that I didn't want to but I was expecting instructors there to supervise. I want Spencer to be able to take instruction from other people and get consquences for any inapropriate actions if he misbehaves. I want to understand that he has to listen and not just "do his own thing".
So we're off in about an hour to his class again. It's good to see that he wasn't the only little boy either. It was almost 50/50 split for boys versus girls.
Todd's off on his 4 days off starting tomorrow. Thank goodness! I'm tired and I need a rest! He's been working extra time the past week or so though. He was scheduled to have 6 days off in a row and ended up working 2 of them in OT. He stayed for OT last night too to get a job done that needed to be done for the next shift. It'll be good to have him home!
Until our next post..... take care!

This Past Week & Some Family Notes
This past week has been a busy one! It just seems that one thing after another has come up.
Spencer enjoyed the rest of his mini St. Patrick's Day cupcakes.....
We've been swimming all this week in the mornings. The kids are on March break here and still have another week! Yup... BC kids get 2 weeks for Spring break!
Here's a picture of him in class on Thursday. The kids were swimming in the deep end.
Since he did SO well in his swimming class this week, we decided to put him in next week's classes too! He's improved a lot and his report card from this week was great! He picked up 4 more check marks on his "Salamander" badge.
Next week is going to be crazy too! Not only is he taking swimming lessons every morning, but he's also taking gymnastics in the afternoons. The community center is offering 4 sessions for kids. He'll be in a class of 3 & 4 year olds. I KNOW he's going to love this class! He can already walk the balance beam by himself and do a somersault all by himself too! Lots of driving to and from town next week!!

Happy St. Patty's Day!
Happy St. Patrick's Day everyone!
Today's been a "take it easy" day here. We did do a little celebrating though...
We got dressed up in green....
We went to our morning swimming lesson in green trunks!
We had a yummy dessert in honour of green day!
Happy Saint Patrick's Day!
And a kiss for good luck....
Todd was asked to work night shift OT tonight so he's napping right now. We also have another mini mine shutdown this week too (4 days officially starting on Thursday I think). He's only loosing 2 shifts worth of hours but just by him taking this night of OT, we'll only be short a half day. There was talk that they may even ask him to work OT tomorrow night too. He's not used to the night shifts so it should be interesting to see how things play out this next few days.

Yippee!
We had a great visit with Mom and Dad this past week and we were all sorry to see that our week went so fast. Sorry Dad.. most of the wildlife showed up on the drive home from Calgary! We saw 200 deer and 3 coyotes in Pincher Creek on our way home!
Got some great news this morning! West Jet was having a super seat sale and so Spencer and I got some great air fares to come to Ontario so I could attend ScrapFest in Kitchener in April! We booked our flights this morning as the fares were $99 into Hamilton... for TODAY only! We'll be coming home April 15th to April 21st.
Todd has to work most of the time we're gone so he'll get a little vacation himself.
Spencer took his last swimming class for the set yesterday. He got his "Salamander" report card too. He got only a few checks on his card but Todd and I have already seen improvement since he started 3 weeks ago. He's scheduled to swim all 5 days next week and he's going to take gymnastics for 3-4 year olds the following week for 4 days. The community center is offering all kinds of neat stuff for the kids to do while March break happens for the next 2 weeks.
Gotta run! Hope to see most of you soon!

A Good Visit So Far
Well my parents are finally here. We had a pretty interesting morning to having to drive to Calgary on Tuesday. It had snowed quite a bit on Monday night and the roads in BC were not fun! Thankfully we were forced to take the Jeep to pick everyone up anyway.
Our ride home was great. The snow and rain and sleet had cleared as we left Calgary and the sun came out. By the time we made it home, the roads were clear and dry.
Yesterday, all 5 of us packed back into the Jeep and went off to see Waterton National Park for the day. We were hoping to feed some deer right in the park but the snow level was quite high and we didn't see anything in town. We headed home, stopping in Pincher Creek for lunch on the way back.
Before we took Spencer to his swimming lessons yesterday we took a quick drive up to Sparwood Heights. This is where we taught Dad how to REALLY hunt for deer!
We had Dad feeding 5 deer out of the window with pretzels at the gas station! Kind of ironic with him being an avid hunter!
Today we spent most of the day at home. Todd returned to work today too. The winds were high and it snowed most of the day. We did manage to take Spencer to his library time and the 3 of us went to the grocery store and the coffee shop.
Tomorrow we're hoping to adventure to Fernie. Hopefully the weather will cooperate and the road conditions will be good.

Tomorrow's the Day!
Tomorrow's the day we have our first visitors to our new home here in BC. My parents are due in to Calgary in mid morning.
We're off to Calgary bright and early. Hopefully the weather will cooperate with us. It was warm enough today to rain! We spent most of the day getting ready.... getting groceries, cleaning and taking Spencer to his swimming lessons.
His lessons went well today. He listened a little better. The class was even smaller today than last Monday. It was only him and one other little boy.
I'm off to bed. I need to get some rest as tomorrow will be a long day... spent mostly in the Jeep. Ta ta for now.
