Santa Arrives in Style in Elkford!

There's one thing about Elkford, when we do Christmas, we DO Christmas in STYLE!

Every year the Elkford Fire Department decks the fire trucks up and they drive around the neighbourhoods to allow Santa to visit all the kids in Elkford.

This year... Santa almost missed us! Instead of driving up the entire length of the street, they turned at the yield sign at the bottom of the hill. Good thing the neighbours were watching or we would have missed Santa altogether! So we all jumped in the neighbour's truck and tracked down Santa ourselves.

We found him down the dirt side road fixing the lights on the truck!

Meeting Santa with his very own Santa hat on!

Wishing you and yours a fabulous Christmas and holiday season!

Bumps in the Road & Winter Begins

Well it held off until the 11th month... it's here... SNOW!

The restaurant is going well. Putting in extremely long days. Poor Todd didn't see me the whole time he was home this set.

Spencer has been put on a medication for his ADHD and was also diagnosed with ODD (Oppositional Defiant Disorder) this week. He started his meds on Wednesday and we think he is having issues with the meds since they seem to aggravate the ADHD symptoms. We have been talking with his pediatrician in Cranbrook daily to inform him of what's going on but school and daily life have been EXTREMELY stressful for Spencer this week. We're just trying to be supportive and help him through things. Wish us luck as we start this new "bumpy" road in the life of the Israels.

Good to hear that Dick and Judy finally have a way to communicate with us on a more regular basis. Here's the link to this blog (just click the words ===> We 3 in BC) to see all of our posts for the last 3 years.

Spook-tacular Times!

Hallowe'en was a great night. It started out on the cool side and then as we were about half way done, it began to snow. The flakes were huge! Spencer went out with one of his buddy's from school and the 2 of them had a great time together.

Here's a photo of him on the front steps with his pumpkin. He was a skeleton ninja.

Happy Hallowe'en!

Happy haunting everyone!

Spencer and I took the time yesterday to carve our jack o'lantern. Here he is plucking out the orange guys guts...

Instead of wearing costumes to school, the school always has an orange and black day instead so Spencer wore his Hallowe'en PJs to school. His pants are covered in all kinds of graveyard and spooky images!

He's posing with our finished jack o'lantern this morning before school.Photobucket

Autumn's Arrival

We officially took possession of Kapp's only 1 week ago today. That's a picture of the outside of the building. All of the paperwork for the health inspection has gone in and we're looking forward to getting the inspection done and get the remainder of our operating permits soon... the sooner the better of course!

Happy Thanksgiving to all of our friends and family!

Thankfully Todd's 4 days off coincides with the entire holiday weekend so we're enjoying just a nice and relaxing few days off together.

I've brightened up the house with a few pots of Mums to mark the season too...

I love the beautiful 2 toned orange ones!

And the rich burgundy and yellow too!

It's been rather cool and overcast the last few days. We've had some rain which of course means fresh SNOW in the upper elevations. This is one of the 5 peeks behind the house (to the West)...
Here is the mountain ridge we can see from the living room patio doors... to the East. Beautiful but it can stay up there for another month and a half!

Wishing you and yours...

Happy Thanksgiving Weekend!

We've Been Visited!

I walked Spencer to school this morning and happened to look behind the old house. Laying there was a Mamma and her twins. Most of the Mule deer fawns have lost their spots but I have seen a few in town that still them - they must have been late babies since we had such a harsh winter last year.

Was walking home from the school and noticed the "UFO" clouds in the sky. So cool! We actually see them quite often.

The Kapp's deal is slowly coming together. Only a few more items to tick off the list until it is all MINE! The hardest part is going to be getting our health inspection done in a timely fashion. Not looking forward to that at all!

A New Beginning

Well we have had LOTS of exciting things happen here in Elkford.

First of all, Spencer started Grade 1 last week and is settling in to his new environment well. This was taken the morning before his first day... lounging on the couch with Daddy...

We've had beautiful weather for the last few weeks. Thankfully fall hasn't started quite yet here in the valley even though we've already had our first snow of the year. We've been walking to school every morning...

On a new note... as some of you know Todd and I have just purchased a local business here in town. We will soon be the proud owners of Kapp's Pizza House. We are still hammering out all the details and I'm sure I will making lots of trips back and forth to Fernie this week dealing with banking and lawyers. We don't have a specific date as to when we take over but we know it'll be VERY soon. Wish us luck!

He's Growing Up!

He just lost his first tooth! It's been loose since we came home from Ontario on Thursday and he just found it among his Legos on the living room floor.

He's growing up way too fast!

Happy Daddy's Day Todd!

I arrived home at about 3:15pm to find the boys outside helping the neighbour weed her garden. Both were dirty so I immediately sent them to the tub!

At 3:30 I sent Spencer to Todd with a card and inside it read... (there was a bike stamped in the white space of the card)...
So we all piled into the Jeep and I plugged in the address into the GPS and off we went.

Finally we arrived at our destination...

Big Horn Helicopters!

Surprise Todd & Spencer! We're going for a helicopter ride!

The boys checking out the copter...

Spencer sitting in the back seat already to go!

Daddy sitting in the front seat glancing out the window as we take off from the heli-pad.

Glimpse of the condos and hotels along HWY #3 in Fernie.

Looking up HWY #3 towards Elko.

We zipped along the Fernie ski hill and spotted one of the chalets on the hill side. And YES... that's snow. We still have quite a bit here.

One of the bowls above the ski hill...

Another bowl...

Flying over Island Lake...

A green valley...

High above Fernie...

One of the only peaks we saw because of the low cloud cover...

LOTS of snow in the higher elevations. Evidence of a snow slide...

Another slide on the back side of one of the mountain sides...

A gorgeous glistening sheer rock wall...

Safe on the ground. Todd is in his front seat...

Thumbs up Mommy!

Our family!

Meet Stanley... our amazing heli pilot for the journey! He and Spencer got along like 2 peas in a pod!

Happy Father's Day Todd! We hope you enjoyed your little adventure!

Sickies in the Israels' House!

We've been contending with illness for the past few days. I know Mom you've phoned and this is why I haven't been able to get back to you sooner.
